Getting started

Install Yuki and open your first pages

Choose a build, open a website, and understand panes, tab groups and workspaces.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open Download Yuki below. Select the package matching your operating system and processor. On macOS, ARM64 is for Apple Silicon and x64 is for Intel; choose a universal package only if listed.
  2. Install and launch Yuki. Click a pane, then press Ctrl+L on Windows/Linux or Command+L on macOS to focus its address bar. Enter a website address and press Enter.
  3. Press Ctrl+T (Command+T on macOS) to create another tab group. A pane displays one page; a tab group holds related panes; a workspace keeps groups and their layout together.
  4. Start in the default workspace. Open the account menu when you want to sign in and use additional workspaces or connected features.

Things to know

  • Only download packages listed for your platform. An empty download list does not mean a package for another system will work.
  • Basic local browsing works without a Yuki account. Website logins are separate from your Yuki login.

View pages side by side

Split the active pane, resize the layout, and keep a useful page nearby.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Click the page you want to split so it becomes the active pane.
  2. Open the pane context menu and choose Split vertically for left and right panes, or Split horizontally for top and bottom panes. The toolbar also offers split controls.
  3. Focus the new pane and enter the second website address. Drag the divider to adjust how much space each page gets.
  4. Use the pane menu to Float pane, Dock pane, or Pin to sidebar when needed. Use Return from sidebar to put a pinned page back into a tab group.

Things to know

  • Pinned sidebar panes cannot be split; return the pane to a tab group first.
  • Page actions such as find, reload and zoom apply to the active pane. Click the intended page before using a shortcut.

Organize, stash and compare tab groups

Name groups, move them between workspaces and recover stashed pages.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open a tab group's context menu and choose Rename group to give related pages a recognizable name.
  2. Choose Move to workspace or Copy to workspace, then select the destination. Create another workspace first if no destination is listed.
  3. Choose Stash this group to remove it from the active tab strip. Open Stash and select the group to restore it, or use Restore all tab groups.
  4. Choose Pin group globally to keep a group visible while comparing another group. Use Swap sides, the resize control or Restore equal split to arrange the comparison; choose Unpin group to finish.

Things to know

  • Stashing and deleting are different actions. Deleting a stashed group removes that group and its pages after confirmation.
  • Closing a group with multiple panes can ask whether to close only the active pane or the entire group. Read that prompt before confirming.

Create and switch workspaces

Keep separate projects with their own pages, groups, layout and theme.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Sign in, open the account menu and choose Workspaces. The default workspace is available without signing in; additional workspaces require an account.
  2. Choose Create workspace (or New in the workspace menu), enter a name and arrange the pages for that project.
  3. Use Save current layout in workspace management to save the current setup. Select Switch to this workspace when returning to another project.
  4. Use Rename to change a workspace name. Export work you want to keep before choosing Delete or replacing a saved layout.

Things to know

  • The workspace panel shows your available quota. If the limit is reached, review existing workspaces and your account access.
  • The default workspace cannot be deleted. A workspace is not a full backup of website cookies, passwords or downloaded files.

Use separate accounts on the same website

Assign storage partitions to keep website sessions separate.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open the group or pane's Partition menu. Choose New partition, or select an existing partition intended for that website account.
  2. Open the website and sign in. For a second website account, open another pane and assign a different partition before signing in there.
  3. Choose Use group default on a pane when it should share the group's website session again.
  4. Open Context partitions to manage partitions. Give them useful names. Use Clear storage only when you intend to remove that partition's website data.

Things to know

  • Panes using the same partition share its website session. A different tab group name alone is not a guarantee of session isolation.
  • Clearing storage can sign you out and remove website-local data for every pane using that partition. Export important site data first.
  • Private groups use temporary partitions. Partitions separate browser storage; they do not make network activity anonymous.

Open a private browsing group

Use a temporary website session without changing your normal partition.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open the browser title menu and choose New private group, or press Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+N on macOS.
  2. Browse in that group's private partition. Sign in to websites there only if needed; it does not reuse your normal persistent partition.
  3. Close the private group when finished. Keep any files you intentionally saved in a location you control.

Things to know

  • Private browsing is not a VPN and does not hide activity from websites or your network operator. Downloaded files remain on disk.
  • Signing out of Yuki does not clear normal website logins or local browsing data. Manage the relevant partition separately.

Getting started

Import bookmarks and history from another browser

Preview bookmarks and turn selected links into workspace tab groups.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Sign in to Yuki. Open the account menu and choose the browser import entry (Import bookmarks from other browsers).
  2. Select an available source and the destination workspace, then preview the data. Nothing is imported just by opening the tool.
  3. Select the bookmarks to keep. Group them by count, original folder or manually entered group name. The default is 10 links per group; the allowed range is 1–100.
  4. Choose whether to deduplicate selected URLs and include history, then confirm the import. Switch to the destination workspace to find the new groups.

Things to know

  • Imported bookmarks become tab groups, not a separate bookmark menu. Existing groups are preserved, and importing does not automatically load all the websites or switch workspaces.
  • Only HTTP and HTTPS bookmark links are accepted, with up to 5,000 entries read per source. History belongs to the signed-in account.
  • Signing out or changing accounts closes the import tool. Older shared local bookmark data is not automatically assigned to an account.

Back up, restore and sync workspaces

Save a local export before restoring or replacing a workspace from the server.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open Workspaces. Use Export for one workspace or Export all workspaces to save a local backup. Check the completion message and keep the exported file.
  2. Use Restore from backup or Import workspaces to select a Yuki backup file. Review any duplicate-workspace prompt before continuing.
  3. When duplicates are found, choose a copy if you want to preserve the current workspace. Overwrite replaces the existing version; bulk import can also skip duplicates.
  4. For cloud features, sign in and review Settings → Sync. If you use Force refresh in a workspace menu, confirm only after exporting local changes: it replaces the local workspace with the server version.

Things to know

  • An export that reports an incomplete layout snapshot is not a complete backup. Resolve the listed workspace issue before relying on it.
  • Workspace sync is not a complete browser-profile backup. Do not assume cookies, saved passwords, downloads or all local records travel with a workspace.
  • If sync is unavailable, check your sign-in and service availability. Repeated force refreshes cannot recover unsaved local changes.

Capture & share

Collect page content in Notes

Capture a selection or write a note while keeping its source nearby.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Activate the source webpage, select the text you want to collect, then open Notes from the browser tools.
  2. Choose Capture selection. Review the captured content and source before saving; capture prepares the note for review.
  3. Enter an optional title, edit or type the content, and choose Save note. Use Refresh notes if you need to reload the list.
  4. Use Open in a separate window to move Notes out of the browser, or Dock in the browser to bring it back. Delete a note only after checking its content.

Things to know

  • If there is no selected pane or capture fails, activate the source page and select its text again. You can also paste or type the content manually.
  • Inspect captured content before sharing or exporting it; pages can contain account details or other private information.

Capture & share

Capture, annotate and save a screenshot

Select a page area, add annotations, then copy or download the image.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open the page to capture and choose Screenshot from the browser menu.
  2. Select an area or use Select entire webpage. Use the available full-width or full-height capture controls when you need content beyond the visible area.
  3. Review the preview. Crop if needed, then add rectangles, arrows or text. Use Redact on sensitive areas and inspect the final image.
  4. Choose Download PNG to save a file, or Finish & copy to put the image on the clipboard. Paste it into the destination application to verify the result.

Things to know

  • Scrolling capture depends on the page. Infinite lists, virtualized tables and changing content may not produce a complete image; capture smaller areas if necessary.
  • If copying or saving fails, the preview is retained so you can retry. Saving a PNG lets you continue working with the screenshot.

Capture & share

Share a page, tab group or workspace

Send a supported page or saved arrangement to a recipient.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Sign in to Yuki and choose the item to share. Use Share in a pane or group menu, or in the workspace controls.
  2. Enter the recipient's email address in the share dialog. Check the selected page or group before sending.
  3. Submit the share and wait for the result. If a share URL is returned, use that link to access the shared item.
  4. The recipient can open the shared page and follow the available viewing or import action. Protected items may require the intended account to sign in.

Things to know

  • Review page titles and URLs before sharing. URLs themselves can contain private identifiers or access information.
  • Sharing a layout does not sign the recipient into your websites. Do not assume a share creates a live, jointly edited browser session.

Set up Yuki Agent and run a supported command

Configure instruction understanding, test it, then review actions before execution.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open Settings → Yuki Agent. Choose an in-app local model, an existing local service or a cloud service for instruction understanding, and complete the settings for that source.
  2. For the in-app model, download the offered model files and start the model. Save the configuration, then use the recognition test to inspect the proposed action without executing a browser task.
  3. Open Yuki Agent and enter a supported command, such as opening a new tab group. Check the action and target URL when confirmation is requested.
  4. Use voice input when speech recognition is configured. To ask about an image, attach a PNG or JPEG and enter an instruction; image-driven actions require confirmation.
  5. Ask a Yuki usage question, such as How do I use split screen? Expand a cited guide to read its English steps while the model prepares an answer. Matching original guides remain readable when no model is available.
  6. Select a completed help answer and ask a short follow-up, such as Where is step 2? Use the offered action buttons to request a supported operation; the target is checked again when you click.
  7. Open Agent history to inspect tasks, image and voice records. Deleting finished history removes its records, not files that tasks already created.

Things to know

  • The model area shows whether a language model is configured or the Agent is in basic command mode. A downloaded speech model does not provide language understanding. A successful test is not a continuous online-status check.
  • Cloud instruction understanding sends your instruction text to the configured provider. A help follow-up also includes the previous question and cited public guides. Cloud image use also sends the image and requires image capability to be enabled.
  • Attachments are limited to PNG/JPEG, 4 MiB and 16 million pixels per image. Raw images are not saved in task history; attach the image again to recognize it again.
  • Help supports short explanatory follow-ups, not implicit permission to act. For example, Then do it does not inherit authorization from a guide. Lightweight models can misunderstand commands. Browser and its local service must be compatible.
  • Compatible clients refresh public guides in the background at startup and check again during use after six hours. Updates do not send your questions to the documentation server. If a download fails, the last valid local copy or bundled guides remain available. The displayed revision identifies the content used; check the version notice when guides target a different Browser version.

Manage Agent panels and task history

Move the Agent to another window and inspect completed or pending work.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open Yuki Agent. Use the docking control to switch between the browser sidebar and a separate window, which can be moved and resized.
  2. Use the history button to open Agent history. Select a task, image or voice record and inspect its execution details and available result actions.
  3. Review pending confirmation in the Agent before allowing the proposed action. Closing the history tab group does not cancel a task.
  4. Delete individual finished tasks or clear finished history when needed, confirming the deletion prompt. Active and waiting-for-confirmation tasks are retained.

Things to know

  • Closing the separate Agent window hides it; reopening it preserves the current conversation and draft while the owning browser window remains open.
  • Removing history does not delete generated files. Keep files you need and manage them separately.

Pair a phone with Companion

Approve a phone connection and understand disconnecting versus removing a device.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Sign in on the PC and open Companion. With no paired device, the panel shows the pairing screen. Install a compatible Yuki Companion build on the phone.
  2. Use the phone's pairing flow to scan the PC invitation. With the current pairing flow, the PC shows Allow or Reject; approve only the phone you intend to connect.
  3. After pairing, select the device and use the receive/send tools. The phone's connection authorization is separate from the PC's account login.
  4. Use Disconnect to stop communication with that phone temporarily. Use Reconnect to resume without scanning again. Use device management when you intend to revoke a device instead.

Things to know

  • Pairing requires compatible Browser, local service, server and Android versions. Updating only one component may not be enough.
  • Closing the panel is not the same as disconnecting. Reconnect does not wake the phone app or show a new authorization request on the phone.
  • Device usage includes computers and phones; offline devices still count. Check the actual quota shown in device management. Disconnecting temporarily does not free a device slot.

Send and receive files with Companion

Transfer a file to a paired device and find files received on the PC.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open Companion and choose the paired phone. Check that the connection is enabled and the phone app is available.
  2. Open Send, choose the file and follow the recipient's acceptance flow. Keep both devices connected while the transfer runs.
  3. To find received files, open Receive → Files. Completed local files show their names, sizes and receive times.
  4. Drag a received file to a website's existing upload area, or reveal it in its folder. Verify completion at the destination before removing your original.

Things to know

  • File sending depends on the local Yuki service and a working transfer route. A paired device can still be unreachable; pairing alone does not guarantee file delivery.
  • Disconnecting pauses active transfers. Reconnect and retry as needed. A missing local file can leave a visible record with dragging disabled.
  • Closing the Hub is not a reliable way to cancel a send; the PC can continue handling an outstanding offer. Check the task's status.

Upload a phone file directly to a webpage

Use Companion from a supported webpage upload control.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Pair a compatible phone and open the target webpage in Yuki. Find the page's file upload control.
  2. Hover over or keyboard-focus the supported control to reveal the phone-upload entry, then start the phone request.
  3. Follow the phone's request to choose a file or take a photo. Each delivery supplies one file to the selected webpage control.
  4. Check the website's file preview and complete its normal submission flow. Received files are also available under Companion Receive → Files.

Things to know

  • Some custom buttons open a hidden file input through JavaScript. The first click may still open the system file picker while Yuki learns the association; later hovering can expose the phone entry.
  • For multi-file inputs, the phone entry is offered only when the selection is empty, to avoid replacing selected files. The website still enforces file type, size and count limits.
  • If the control is unsupported, receive the file through Companion and drag it into the website's normal upload area.

Preview an Android phone screen (prototype)

Understand the current screen-preview controls and limitations.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Use compatible Companion, Browser and local service builds with the server's mirroring support enabled. Connect the PC and one Android phone on the same network.
  2. Open the Phone screen tab in Companion and start the session. Approve screen sharing on the phone for that session.
  3. Enable control permission separately if you want the available tap, swipe and navigation actions.
  4. Once the image appears, enter fullscreen if needed. Press Escape or use the close control to leave fullscreen. Close the panel to stop mirroring.

Things to know

  • This is a same-network, single-device prototype; real-device acceptance is not complete. It does not include audio, text input or iOS control.
  • Leaving fullscreen does not stop mirroring. The phone's sharing and control permissions remain separate.

Use and customize keyboard shortcuts

Find pages, switch groups and customize bindings for your keyboard.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open Settings → Shortcuts to view the bindings for your platform. In these examples, Mod means Ctrl on Windows/Linux and Command on macOS.
  2. Use Mod+L for the address bar, Mod+T for a new group and Mod+W to close a group. Use Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+Shift+Tab to switch groups.
  3. Use Mod+F to find text in the active webpage; Mod+G and Mod+Shift+G move between matches. Use Mod+R to reload, Mod+Plus/Minus to zoom and Mod+0 to reset zoom.
  4. Use Mod+S to save, Mod+P to print and Mod+Comma to open shortcut settings. Select an action in settings to record a new binding; press Escape to cancel recording.
  5. Resolve any reported conflict, then save. You can disable an action or restore defaults. Splitting and pane controls can also be assigned shortcuts here.

Things to know

  • Custom bindings replace all default combinations for that action and apply to all Yuki windows and panes. They are stored on this computer.
  • Closing a group still follows its confirmation rules. Focus the correct pane before using page actions.

Manage downloads and everyday settings

Find saved files, choose a download folder and adjust appearance.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open Downloads from the browser menu to inspect downloads. Confirm the task finished before opening or moving a file.
  2. In Settings, review download behavior and the destination folder. In ask mode the folder is the default in the save dialog; in direct mode files save there automatically.
  3. Use Settings → Theme to choose a preset, follow the system theme or customize appearance.
  4. Use Set as default in the default-browser settings if you want web links to open in Yuki. Complete any confirmation shown by your operating system.

Things to know

  • A download history entry is not a backup of the file. Moving or deleting a file outside Yuki affects whether it can be opened.
  • Download history changes when you switch Yuki accounts. Check the actual download folder if a file is no longer listed.

Account & data

Sign in, recover an account and manage devices

Understand account-local records, website sessions and subscription access.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. Open the account menu and sign in using your registered method. Use Google or GitHub only when that provider is offered by your server.
  2. If you forgot your password, use Forgot password on the sign-in page and complete the recovery flow. Password reset signs existing sessions out.
  3. Open Account settings to review account security, linked providers and active sessions or devices. Verify the device before revoking access.
  4. Use Manage subscription to review renewal and Orders to inspect payments or refund status. Prices, payment methods and limits come from the current server catalog.

Things to know

  • Local bookmarks and browsing history are separated by Yuki account, with a separate guest set. Switching accounts changes the visible records; this is not file encryption.
  • Signing out of Yuki does not clear website logins in normal partitions. On a shared computer, manage website storage separately.
  • Cancelling subscription renewal does not itself issue a refund. Offline devices still count toward the displayed device limit.

Settings & troubleshooting

Troubleshoot missing pages and unavailable features

Check the active workspace, account, model and connected services before resetting anything.

Link to this guide ↗

How to use it

  1. For a missing page, check the active workspace and tab group, then Stash and Recently closed tab groups. For a different website login, check the pane's partition.
  2. For missing history or imported groups, verify the signed-in Yuki account and the import's destination workspace. Do not overwrite a workspace just to search for a missing page.
  3. For Agent failures, check Settings → Yuki Agent, the selected model source and the recognition test. Confirm that the local model is started or the configured service is reachable.
  4. For Companion failures, verify pairing, local connection state, phone availability and compatible component versions. A device quota error requires reviewing devices, not rescanning repeatedly.
  5. Use About to record the Yuki version and Check for updates to check the configured update service. Read Release notes, then record your operating system and the exact steps that reproduce the issue.

Things to know

  • Export workspaces before using restore, force refresh or clearing storage. These actions can replace data or sign websites out.
  • Remove passwords, tokens, private URLs and sensitive page content from screenshots or reports. An unavailable update service does not prove your installed version is current.
